Tinkler: I'm still hoping to stay on

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler says he hopes to continue in his role at the helm of the Soweto giants in the 2016/17 season.

Speculation over Tinkler's future at the club has been rife in recent times after another season without silverware, despite reaching the CAF Confederations Cup and Nedbank Cup finals.

The former Bafana Bafana international took over at Pirates in December 2014 after replacing Vladimir Vermezovic.

"I had a one-year contract with an option to sign for a further year. I'm still hoping to stay on. I enjoy my job at Pirates. It's a great club and I still have unfinished business," Tinkler told Daily Sun.

"So I am hoping Pirates exercise their option, as I want to stay, but it's up to the management. It's a case of wait and see. I'm sure the situation will be clarified one way or the other soon.

"I am currently on holiday and until I hear anything to the contrary, I will keep planning for pre-season. We report back for training on 4 July and hopefully I will be taking the first training session."
