Tinkler: I'm happy for the boys

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler was full of praise for his side after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over University of Pretoria on Saturday evening.

Thabo Matlaba's 70th-minute goal proved the difference as the Buccaneers moved up to seventh in the Absa Premiership table ahead of Sunday's round of fixtures.

The result also marked backed-to-back wins for Tinkler's men, following a three-match winless run.

"It was a fantastic performance from the boys. We played with the right intensity today," Tinkler said in his post-match interview.

"We had a lot of possession this game, but I thought in the first half we could have passed the ball a little bit quicker to the wide areas. They were giving us a lot of space out there.

"I knew if we kept doing the things we were doing, we would eventually find the goal, and we did that. I'm happy for the boys. Hopefully we've turned the corner now.

"It was important for us to get the points and get back-to-back wins.

"We've got another tough game coming up against Sundowns and obviously we want to collect three points there, but today the three points were massively important for us."
