Tinkler explains Manyama captaincy

Cape Town - Cape Town City FC coach Eric Tinkler has explained why he chose to appoint Lebogang Manyama and Vincent Kobola as captain and vice-captain respectively, ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The Mother City-based outfit are preparing for their maiden season in the Premiership after acquiring the top-flight status of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

"Captain will be Lebo Manyama and vice-captain will be Vincent Kobola," Tinkler told KickOff.

"Lebo Manyama is an extremely hard working player and very vocal. I didn’t realise he was that vocal."

Manyama who has plied his trade at Ajax Cape Town, SuperSport United and Aces will be deputised by Kobola, and Tinkler believes that the experienced duo are the ideal men to lead the side in the new season - citing their professional approach to the game.

"He speaks to his players when he is not happy with the performances at training and he screams and shouts at them and that’s what you what from a captain," the former Orlando Pirates boss added.

"You know he is the eyes and the ears of the coach and that’s what I have in Manyama and the same with Vincent Kobola. He is a hard worker and very professional in terms of his approach and it made complete sense."
