Tinkler confident SuperSport can clinch Confed Cup

Cape Town - SuperSport United's away win over Club Africain has given Eric Tinkler belief that his side can beat TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Matsatsantsa's 3-1 victory in Tunisia on Sunday night saw them progress 4-2 on aggregate to set up a two-legged final against the DRC giants.

Tinkler knows it will be tough against a Mazembe team packed with African pedigree. Indeed, the Matsatsantsa coach will know exactly what to expect as the two clubs were paired in the initial group stages of the competition this year, the two matches ending 0-0 and 2-2.

But having seen United performing so well in Tunisia in testing circumstances in front of a fired-up partisan home crowd - lasers, fireworks and all - Tinkler is confident they have what it takes to overcome Mazembe, the current Confederation Cup champions.

"The final against TP Mazembe - you're talking about a team that has a lot of experience. A team that has obviously won the Champions League and the Confederation Cup," Tinkler told the media after the semi-final, second leg tie.

"I've explained to the players that we needed to come here [Tunisia] to this hostile crowd and hostile environment and play without fear.

"That's how we have to treat the game against TP Mazembe, irrespective of all of the experience that they have."

The two legs of the final take place on the weekends of the 17th and 24th November.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
