Tinkler: Chiefs our biggest obstacle

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler is eager to claim Nedbank Cup glory because of the automatic CAF entry.

The Nedbank Cup stakes have gone up in recent years as the winner of the competition will get a place to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

“Nedbank Cup is important because we'll finish a season with a trophy and a chance to play CAF,” said Tinkler as quoted by Orlando Pirates official Twitter account.

“That's what we really want CAF.

“We have won some games so the confidence is up & that will help us on Saturday with trying to achieve our objective.”

The Buccaneers have a tough first encounter of the tournament as they face Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday, March 5.

“We’d like to win the Nedbank Cup & have something to show on the day. Our biggest obstacle at the moment is Chiefs.”

“We want to produce exciting football and give the fans something to brag about. It’s about bragging rights for them.”

“I think the last two derbies were exciting in terms of the football on display.”

Kick-off is at 15:00.
