Tinkler calls for focus from CT City

Cape Town - Cape Town City FC coach Eric Tinkler insists that his side have their feet on the ground following their blistering start to the season.

The newly-assembled club won both their opening games after a 2-0 win over Polokwane City in their league opener and 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN 8 quarter-finals.

Tinkler wants his players to remain focused and continue with their positive start to the campaign.

"We want to approach it game-by-game. We go into every game with the same mentality that we go there to try and collect three points," the former Orlando Pirates coach told KickOff website.

"The target that I set myself is that I want to hit that 30-point mark as quick as possible. To finish in the top eight, that has to be our aim and I think the massive blue sky scenario would obviously being able to finish in fourth place like Aces did last season.

"If we could manage something like that it will be an absolutely remarkable achievement for such young club like ours.

"Yes we've started well, but it's only two games in. It's a marathon not a sprint and you know we need to remain focused, we need to remain disciplined, we need to remain hardworking to ensure we reach all those goals."
