Tinkler calls for consistency

Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has urged his troops not to get carried away with their recent impressive form in league and cup competitions.

The Citizens leapfrogged Bidvest Wits at the summit of the log following their 1-all stalemate against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday.

The new kids on the block will also contest the R4m prize against SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout on December 10.

Tinkler outlined the key factors for the Mother City-based outfit if they want to achieve success in the 2016/17 season.

"Obviously consistency is key. It's very vital for the players to understand that," said Tinkler.

"If you want to achieve big things consistency comes with a lot of hard work and confidence especially in big occasions.

"Most importantly for me is character. It needs to be there all the time.

"Even when we are walking into the change rooms after matches you need to show character."

Meanwhile, Tinkler leads his side into battle against Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 20:00.
