Cape Town - Orlando Pirates latest signing Diamond Thopola says he wants to help the Soweto giants challenge for a league and cup double this season.
Thopola, 27, arrived at Mayfair from Chippa United last week alongside left-back Phetso Maphanga, who also plied his trade with the Chilli Boys.
However, Thopola, who's known for his tireless displays from right-back, arrives with real pedigree as a senior South Africa international and experience of captaining his former side.
Calf problems restricted the former Thanda Royal Zulu defender to only three league starts this season - in which he led his side out as their leader.
"I feel ready to take to the pitch in Pirates' colours, but I know it won't be easy," he told the club's website.
"I missed a few games in the first half of the season but being here now has energised me and I'm ready to help the Club challenge for the league and upcoming Nedbank Cup.
"I'm settling in and adjusting to the club, and I must thank my teammates for that. They have welcomed me and that has made it easy to adjust to the new environment.
"Coach Micho and his technical staff have also been very supportive."
