Tefu reunites with Baxter at SuperSport

Cape Town - SuperSport United have secured the services of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite from BK Hacken.

According to KickOff, the sporting director of Hacken revealed that the player was homesick and wanted to make the switch back home.

“Sometimes life comes before football,” Sonny Karlsson said.

“He has his children in South Africa and is homesick.”

Mashamaite will reunite with Stuart Baxter at the Pretoria side. The duo won a league and cup double in their final season at Naturena before departing to Sweden and Turkey respectively.

The 31-year-old was crowned PSL's Player of the Season in the 2014/15 season before trialing at New York City FC. The trial seemingly worked in his favour as he jetted to Hacken after spending 10-days in the America.

Baxter will be hoping that the no-nonsense centre-back will help bring silverware glory to Matsatsansta.

After the international break, United will face strong PSL starters Chippa United in a Absa Premiership encounter on Wednesday, August 14.

Kick-off is at 19:30.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
