Tau: We are proud of our work

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau hailed his side's perfect display as the champions thrashed Orlando Pirates 6-0 in their Premiership clash at Loftus Versveld Stadium.

Despite the game being marred by crowd violence that left 13 fans hospitalised, the Brazilians produced one of the performances of the season in a ruthless display of attacking football.

Playing in a false number nine position, the diminutive forward proved Pitso Mosimane's side will not miss Keagan Dolly who joined Ligue 1 side Montpellier last month - by breaching the Buccaneers defensive line almost at will.

The combination with Themba Zwane, Khama Billiat and Anthony Laffor along with the 22-year-old looked unplayable, while first-choice striker Leonardo Castro watched from the bench.

Zwane and Tau's goals took 'Downs into the break with a two goal cushion before the four goal flurry of Ricardo Nascimento, a Thapelo Morena brace and Tau's second, was halted in the 82nd minute by crowd violence - which temporary stopped play for an hour.

"I think we did well," the academy graduate told SuperSportTV after the game.

"We are happy to get the three points, and keep a clean sheet.

"We are proud of our work, and all the credit must go to the team.

"We did very well, and were able to convert the chances we created which is good."

Tau's scintillating form has produced six goals and five assists in 11 games, as Masandawana occupy fifth place, six points behind leaders Cape Town City - with six games in hand.
