Tau sets sights on Spain ahead of England

Cape Town - Percy Tau reckons he would choose playing in Spain ahead of England in order to come up against Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo regularly.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane told the media after the Absa Premiership end of the season awards on Tuesday, that their prized asset has attracted interest from clubs playing in the English Premier League.

Tau is the hottest property in South African football and capped a sensational season by winning the Footballer of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season Awards at the award gala. He also walked away with the Top Goal Scorer award he shared with Rodney Ramagalela of Polokwane City.

The 24-year old admitted that he would be happy to make a move to any of the top leagues in Europe, but would fancy coming up against the Barcelona and Real Madrid superstars on a regular basis.

Tau told the SABC: "I believe so, that I’m ready to go overseas because I have played international football.

“With that reference of being at the club World Cup, CAF Champions League and playing for Bafana Bafana, I have judged myself based on that. Playing against Barcelona was also a good reference.

“I would go to Spain; I also like Germany and England. But if I choose one country it would be Spain. I would love to play against Madrid and Barcelona.

“It would be nice to play against Messi again; it was not enough in the recent match because I did not score against them.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
