SuperSport switch gears for TKO final

Johannesburg - Following a gruelling Absa Premiership goalless stalemate with Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday, SuperSport United will this week switch focus from the league marathon to the eagerly anticipated Telkom Knockout final.

Matsatsantsa will battle for a R4 Million grand prize against Cape Town City at the iconic Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane on Saturday, 10 December 2016.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 18:00.

This will be a first meeting between the two sides since the Citizens’ were formed by the relocation of Mpumalanga Black Aces ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Matsatsantsa booked a place in the final of the lucrative Ziwa Mo competition following an impressive 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates, courtesy of Thabo Mnyamane strike while Eric Tinkler’s men humbled Free State Stars 4-1 at the Athlone stadium a fortnight ago.

Heading to this epic clash, Stuart Baxter and his charges will be motivated by their recent 13 games unbeaten run in all competitions while the Mother City based outfit would be looking to utilise their rich vein of form, which has seen them leap to the summit of the league table.

Matsatsantsa has only featured in the TKO final once in the past decade where they claimed a 3-2 win over Platinum Stars two years ago.
