SuperSport sign Nigeria international

Cape Town - SuperSport United have confirmed the signing of Nigeria international Azubuike Egwuekwe from Finnish Premier Division side KuPS.

The big central defender was reportedly a target of English Premier League club West Ham United earlier in his career, but enjoyed some success with KuPS scoring five times in 32 appearances last season.

Egwuekwe will now ply his trade for Matsatsantsa after they agreed an undisclosed fee with the Kuopio outfit.

However, he won't be available for selection just yet as he is currently waiting for his work permit to come through.

After his side beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the league on Wednesday, Matsatsantsa coach Eric Tinkler confirmed the Nigerian's arrival

"He has arrived, he arrived yesterday (Tuesday) and he will be joining us," said Tinkler.

"We will release that in a statement."

Meanwhile, the Pretoria club face Maritzburg United in a MTN8 semi-final first-leg clash on Saturday evening.

Kick off is at 20:15.
