Cape Town - SuperSport United have reportedly ruled out a move for veteran defender Thabo Nthethe with the Mamelodi Sundowns central defender struggling for playing time in 2017/18 at Chloorkop.
The 33-year-old has featured just once in the Premiership this season with his solitary appearance coming in a 1-0 victory over Platinum Stars in October last year.
It appears the player's fortunes are waning at Sundowns with Nthethe having made just eight starts in the previous campaign as well. Prior to his recent fall from grace, the Bloemfontein-born star was a mainstay of the defence, making 29 appearances in 2015/16.
Nonetheless, it seems a move away from the Pitso Mosimane-coached outfit is on the cards as he seeks more regular game-time.
However, according to a report in the Citizen, United are not keen on his services having recently renewed centre-back Clayton Daniels' deal.
Meanwhile, coach Eric Tinkler revealed he would be affording some younger players in his squad a chance against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Nedbank Cup last-32 tie on Sunday.
"It does not mean that when going into the game we’re not serious," he told the publication.
"The players we brought into the club are the players who we believe have the potential of playing in the first team.
"That’s why the youngsters are here. The hard thing is giving them game time when we are under pressure."
