Cape Town - There only ever looked like one winner as SuperSport United ran out comfortable 3-0 victors over Golden Arrows at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.
SuperSport had several early opportunities as Aubrey Modiba fired inches wide before Reneilwe Letsholonyane missed the target and Jeremy Brockie struck an effort over the bar.
At the other end, Lionel Mutizwa wasted a great chance when he chipped the ball over goal after a mistake in the home defence.
The hosts' bright start was rewarded midway through the half when Letsholonyane combined with Brockie before slotting past Arrows keeper Gumede.
With the KZN club failing to create chances, SuperSport were to double the lead just before half-time when Modiba scored from close range after Gumede had failed to pouch Brockie's header.
SuperSport increased their cushion to three when Modiba beat Gumede with a shot from the left-hand side of the box with 52 minutes played.
Arrows winger Wayde Jooste had a chance to pull a goal back soon after, but Matsatsantsa keeper Ronwen Williams pulled off a good save.
At the other end, Kingston Nkhatha and Brockie missed excellent opportunities to extend the scoreline, while Bradley Grobler was unlucky to hit the post for the MTN8 champions and CAF Confederation Cup finalists.
