Cape Town - SuperSport United midfielder Thuso Phala believes his team has the quality to reach the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Matsatsantsa were held to a goalless draw by Zambian outfit Zesco United in the first leg of the quarter-final tie on Friday, and are also due to face Cape Town City in the final of the MTN8 next month.
"This was the plan from the start," Phala was quoted as saying by the Citizen on Monday.
"We are looking to reach those finals in the next two months. No other team will be able to say they have done what we did.
"It's one down and two more to go, basically. Reaching the top eight sets you up nicely for the rest of the season. And, we saw what Wits did after winning the MTN8 and then the league last season."
Phala added that the speculation surrounding Jeremy Brockie's future was now behind them, and they were all playing for a common goal.
"For us it makes life a bit easier because there is always a chance that the goal will come. When he (Brockie) scores, it puts pressure on all of us, it pushes us to continue more in search of more goals," he said.
"He has put that (transfer) behind him now and has continued to do the job for us because he is a professional. It's up to us to provide those assists to him and we know he is going to put them away."
United's next assignment in the league sees them host Chippa United on Wednesday, but they will have an eye on the trip to Ndola to face Zesco in the second leg of their continental clash on Saturday.
