Sundowns won't buckle this time - Tau

Cape Town - Percy Tau believes Mamelodi Sundowns are stronger than last season and is confident the Brazilians will maintain their position at the summit until the end of the season.

Sundowns have claimed seven points from their last three league games, but have also lost three of their last seven outings.

However, with the teams below them also dropping points, Sundowns remain five points above second placed Orlando Pirates, who have played a game more.

Last season saw Masandawana failing to defend their league title after Bidvest Wits finished strongly to claim the crown, but Tau's adamant it won't happen again, especially after the arrival of Jeremy Brockie and Aubrey Ngoma further boosted their squad.

"Last season we lost the league in our last three games," he said after providing a brilliant assist for Khama Billiat in a 1-0 win over Cape Town City last weekend.

"We are trying to improve on that and we are much stronger now. We have new signings that are helping us so hopefully we will work hard and win the league.

"We need to keep on going. We are still going to have tough games," he cautioned.

Sundowns turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup this week - they take on Cape Town All Stars in a last 32 match at Athlone on Friday.
