Sundowns plan Zamalek clean sheet

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse believes that keeping a clean sheet at home is key to the club's chances of winning the CAF Champions League final against Zamalek.

Sundowns face Egypt's White Knights on Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium in the first leg, and will no doubt look to stop the visitors from taking any valuable away goals back to Giza.

Bafana Bastyle do enjoy something of a psychological advantage over Zamalek - Downs beat the five-time Champions League winners twice earlier in the group stages of the competition.

Nonetheless, shutting out an away side that scored six goals in a semi-final victory over Wydad Casablanca is the target that Arendse wants his team to aim for.

He told the PSL's official website: "We have to ensure we keep it tight and keep a clean sheet at home so that they don't have an away goal. That takes the pressure off the team.

"We have the players to do the business at the other end of the field, we'll be looking to score at least one or two goals when the chances arise."

Saturday's first leg gets underway from 15:00 in the City of Jacarandas.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
