Sundowns move to No 1 spot

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the top of the Absa Premiership table after recording a 2-1 win over the University of Pretoria.

Sundowns had the upper hand for most of the first half, and took a deserved lead in at halftime after Khama Billiat struck in the 22nd minute after some good work from Tebogo Langerman.

The Brazilians looked set for a comfortable victory after Leonardo Castro doubled their lead with 20 minutes left to play, but Thabo Mnyamane's 79th-minute goal ensured that both team's had something to fight for until the final whistle.

Sundowns held on to claim the three points, which has moved them to the summit of the table on goal difference.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
