Cape Town - Anthony Laffor says Mamelodi Sundowns will not look for favours from any team as the battle for the Premiership title intensifies with just five remaining clashes.
The Brazilians 1-0 defeat by Bidvest Wits on Monday saw Gavin Hunt's charges leapfrog 'Downs back to the league summit, while also heightening the tension of the title chase that also involves Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs.
The league title defenders host struggling Platinum Stars at Lucas Moripe Stadium in one of Thursday's crucial league clashes. Kick off is at 18:00.
"The league battle has intensified and no one can predict the outcomes of these remaining games," Laffor exclusively told Vodacom Soccer.
"Yes, Wits beat us on Monday and they deserved a win because they were a better side on the day.
"But our defeat has never demoralised us. We have picked ourselves up and are ready for the upcoming game against Platinum (Stars).
"We expect a tough game against Platinum because we know they are fighting for their lives to move away from the relegation zone, but this is a must win for us in order to remain in the league title contention."
The current league leaders, Wits, will battle it out with Orlando Pirates at Bidvest Stadium on Thursday night at 19:30 in their highly-awaited clash.
Bucs will also battle it out with Downs at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 3pm, while Maritzburg United will take on The Clever Boys the same day at Bidvest Stadium.
"Yes, Pirates and Maritzburg will play our league title rivals, Wits. But honestly, at Sundowns we need no favours from anyone in these remaining games, but we will fight our own battle until to the end," added the 32-year-old.
