Sundowns confirm Morena signing

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced the signing of Bloemfontein Celtic winger Thapelo Morena on Thursday, ahead of the start of the 2016/17 Premiership campaign.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal with the reigning PSL champion team after being hunted down by several of clubs.

The Under-23 South Africa international was reportedly being chased by a host of teams following his eye-catching performances for Celtic in the Absa Premiership last season, whereby he netted six goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Siwelele.

"Morena was unveiled on Wednesday, 17 August 2016, and will be joining his new team-mates as the side prepares for their net assignment against Enyimba and might feature if the coach decides to register him for the current CAF campaign - particularly with the injury of Keagan Dolly who has been rested following a hamstring strain sustained in Brazil," read a statement on the clubs website.

Masandawana revealed that the player could make his debut in their CAF Champions League encounter away at Enyimba on Tuesday, 23 August 23rd.

He becomes the club's fourth signing of the transfer window, which includes Ricardo Nascimento, Lucky Mohomi and Sibusiso Vilakazi as new signings, with head coach Pitso Mosimane looking to work on strengthening and balancing his side.

Sundowns prepare for a two-pronged mission to defend their Absa Premiership title and to participate in the next CAF Champions League campaign.

The Bafana Bafana international has four caps to his name.
