Sundowns bid farewell to Rama

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed the departure of their captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who is expected to be unveiled as Kaizer Chiefs player.

In a statement released by the Chloorkop club, Sundowns wished the defender well on his future endevours.

"Mamelodi Sundowns have wished Ramahlwe Mphahlele well as he leaves the Brazilians to further his career elsewhere," read the statement.

"Mphahlele joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Moroka Swallows in 2011 and he captained the side to the Telkom Cup win and won Nedbank cup as was part of Mamelodi Sundowns record breaking season amassing 71 points to win the second of two PSL League titles during his time.

"Mamelodi Sundowns wishes him well as his contract comes to an end and we thank him for his leadership and valuable contribution to the club over the years since he joined the team."

Amakhosi are scheduled to have a special press conference on Monday, June 27 where it is expected that Mphahlele will be unveiled alongside several players brought in by Steve Komphela.
