Stuart Baxter hospitalised

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach and favourite to land the Bafana Bafana job, Stuart Baxter, has reportedly been admitted to hospital to treat an undisclosed ailment.

The club announced that the 63-year-old has been admitted to a medical facility to undergo emergency treatment after battling with his health in recent times.

United's medical team advised Baxter to go into hospital as it seems his health took a turn for the worse in recent days.

The English-born coach reportedly experienced 'significant discomfort' during SuperSport's victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup.

It has since been confirmed that he will miss his side's next two matches as he undergoes necessary treatment to solve his undisclosed medical concern.

Former SuperSport captain and current assistant coach Kaitano Tembo will take charge of the team in Baxter’s absence.

The news could cast doubt about whether he is fit and able to potentially take charge of Bafana in the future, although the main concern is for immediate improvement with his condition.

SuperSport United play Bidvest Wits in their next PSL clash, tonight.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
