Jonevret disappointed with last match day defeat

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates head coach Kjell Jonevret expressed his disappointment following the Buccaneers 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows in the last match day of the 2016/17 season.

The defeat completed a miserable season for the Soweto giants as they missed out on a top eight finish for the first time since the PSL inception in 1996, finishing 11th.

The Swedish born tactician believes that it would have been a perfect confidence booster for their Nedbank Cup final against SuperSport United later this month, if they had won against Abafanabesthende.

"I am still disappointed," Jonevret bemoans.

"Even if we failed to reach the top eight, we accepted that a long time ago.

"I wanted us to win the last league game of the season.

"I wanted to win for the supporters and for our confidence booster ahead of the final.

"But it happened now, we just have to put it behind us."

The Nedbank Cup final is set for Saturday, June 24 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal.
