Stemmer tips Ovono to impress

Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Thabani Stemmer has backed Felipe Ovono to impress for the Buccaneers in the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Eric Tinkler's side will do battle with Tunisian outfit Etoile du Sahel over two legs, starting with the first-leg encounter at Orlando Stadium on November 21, before making the trip to Stade Olympique de Sousse a week later.

Ovono has played a key role in his side's run to the final, and Stemmer believes the Equatorial Guinea international "will do well" in the games against the Red Devils.

"Ovono is used to playing in these kind of games in Africa," Stemmer was quoted as saying by Soccer Laduma.

"He has been nominated for an award (CAF African Player of the Year award for players based in Africa). I think he will do well.

"They (Pirates) are representing South Africa. They have been playing well in Africa."
