Stars sale to Swallows is off, says Khoza

Cape Town - PSL chairperson Irvin Khoza has reassured the football fraternity that MEC Panyaza Lesufi will not further pursue buying Free State Stars.

Lefusi, who is heading a consortium (Moroka Swallows owners) have withdrawn their bid to purchase Ea Lla Koto following weeks of ongoing speculation.

Sport24 reported that last week, Khoza said no paperwork has been admitted to the league and says he knows very few details of the proposed takeover.

"I hope they will conclude it this week because we can't wait too long. If by the end of the week, we do not have clarity then there will be nothing for us to consider,” Khoza said.

According to KickOff, Khoza now confirms that he had a meeting with Lesufi to come to a conclusion regarding whether or not they are still going through with the deal or not.

“We had a meeting today to discuss the Free State Stars issue with MEC Lesufi,” said Khoza said.

“We can confirm that both parties [Free State Stars and Mr Lesufi] have written to us to confirm that the deal is off.

“As the League, we are disappointed with how the whole transaction was handled. It has caused a lot of damage to the fans and the players.

“We wanted to know who the people in the consortium were but obviously that information is irrelevant now because they have withdrawn.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
