SSU out to further dent Wits title hopes

Cape Town - SuperSport United will look to continue their good form in the Absa Premiership when they host Bidvest Wits at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

SuperSport have claimed seven points from the last nine up for grabs after defeating Platinum Stars 2-0 away on April 17.

The Tshwane side has claimed 13 points from 12 home matches this season.

Matsatsantsa are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 34 points from 25 matches.

Wits’ winning run of five matches was halted by a goalless draw at home to Free State Stars on April 16.

The Johannesburg side has claimed 25 points from 12 away matches this season.

The Clever Boys are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 52 points from 25 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Wits and SuperSport have met in 47 league matches since 1990.

The Clever Boys have claimed 15 wins compared to 14 for Matsatsantsa, while 18 matches have been drawn.

SuperSport have won eight of their 23 home league matches against Wits, suffering seven defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season in Johannesburg, the Clever Boys claimed a narrow 1-0 victory for their third successive league win over United.

The teams’ last four league meetings have produced just three goals.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, April 26.
