Sono impressed with 'Downs

Cape Town - Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono praised his mentee Pitso Mosimane, despite losing 2-0 against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Mosimane has a long standing relationship with Sono after discovering the now-Brazilians boss as a young footballer in the 80s.

Sono complimented Mosimane for his impressive Premiership-leading team after their encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

"We knew it was going to be tough but we gave them two stupid goals," Sono told SuperSport.

"Our game-plan was let's hold them until first half, second half we had a chance because they've been playing too many games and you could see second half, there was nothing [from Sundowns].

"We kept pressurising them all the time but our captain made a silly mistake, the goalkeeper made a silly mistake and you pay, when you play a quality team like this they punish you, they are quality, they are a very, very good team."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
