Solinas turns focus to Pirates

Cape Town - Free State Stars coach Giovanni Solinas feels his side deserved to claim maximum points in their PSL clash against Kaizer Chiefs but has already shifted his focus to their Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup.

Ea Lla Koto went in front twice in their 2-2 draw at home to Amakhosi, as Sthembiso Ngcobo and Nyiko Tshabangu provided the goals in each half.

"Before the match everyone thinks Free State Stars is going to lose this game," Solinas told SuperSport.

"So we played a fantastic game, the boys were fantastic. They deserved to win it. I am very proud of the players."

The Bethlehem outfit host Chiefs arch-rivals in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup at Goble Park on Saturday, and Solinas expects yet another tough battle.

"It's a difficult game, now we start preparations for the next game. It's a cup competition," the Italian added.

"We made a number of changes tonight, with young players coming in. They played beautifully with energy, patience and determination, which is good for the team."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
