Shongwe: Katsande means Baloyi won't play

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper William Shongwe believes that Lucky Baloyi won't get playing time at the club while Willard Katsande dominates in central midfield.

It has been reported that the Glamour Boys are considering sending Baloyi out on loan with Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United and Highlands Park said to be interested.

Shongwe believes a spell away would be a good move for the 25-year-old's career due to the competition he faces in midfield.

"It is a bit of a surprise because he came through the development system, and he broke through development and went straight to the first team and the starting lineup for Chiefs," he told Soccer Laduma.

"But somehow the coach (Steve Komphela) hasn't quite accepted or appreciated his ability. Also, for me, he's not going to play because of Katsande. There's the challenge, you've got Katsande, who must start that position as a midfield anchor."

The player was last loaned out from Naturena in 2014/15 when he was with Moroka Swallows. It proved to be an unsuccessful stint as the Dube Birds were relegated that season from the top flight.
