Sheppard happy with Wits role

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits veteran midfielder Dillon Sheppard says he understands that he cannot expect to play every match for the club.

Sheppard, who turns 37 early next year, has made just two appearances from the bench for the Clever Boys this season, but revealed his role extends beyond contributing on the pitch.

"I have a specific role to play in this team which I understand because I know very well that I shouldn't be expecting myself to be always playing when I am almost 37," he told KickOff.

"I still play an influential role because the contribution that I make means I am giving good competition which is why the team is also now on top of the log.

"Obviously since I am still a player I would have wanted to have played a bit more than I have done so far, but being with a team that is doing so well makes me happy.

"How can I even fault anyone when the team is on top? This means everyone who is playing is doing well and to us on the sidelines we need to keep working and wait.

"There is still lots of football to be played this season so I know I will get my turn."
