Rodgers: We are on same level as 'Downs

Johannesburg - Wits forward Eleazar Rodgers insists that the team is in its rightful place alongside giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final on Saturday.

The university club is still in search of their first piece of silverware under head coach Gavin Hunt, who took charge three seasons ago.

Rodgers also maintains that he was not out to prove a point to Sundowns after an unsuccessful spell with the Brazilians in the 2012/13 season.

"Our target is to win things but we don't underestimate any team and hopefully we will win," Rodgers told KickOff.

"Come the end of the day if we win the final we will be happy and we will celebrate it but it's still early in the season and we still have to achieve more.

"I think everything happened the way that it should and that is why I am where I am today. I don't think I have anything to prove against them.

"I've been there, I've left the club and still things went well for me. I can't fault them because I was still able to provide for my family so I don't hold any grudges against them."
