Cape Town - Ramahlwe Mphahlele claims that Mamelodi Sundowns fans are blaming him for Kaizer Chiefs raiding his former club for Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat.
Mphahlele ended a five-year association with the Brazilians in 2016 when he joined Amakhosi in a surprise move, having just won a second Absa Premiership title at Chloorkop.
The Glamour Boys have since tempted both Castro and Billiat away from Sundowns, with the Colombian striker arriving during the January transfer window before the Zimbabwean winger followed in his footsteps last month.
'Rama' has moved to dismiss subsequent suggestions from Downs supporters that he had anything to do with the duo's switch to Naturena this year.
"By way Sundowns fans think that I'm the one who is fetching them (Downs players) from Chloorkop‚" the 28-year-old defender was quoted as saying by TimesLive.
"Guys it is not me‚ it is football. Players move when they feel they want to move and it is good for football you know.
"They have had players from Kaizer Chiefs and Kaizer Chiefs have had players from Mamelodi Sundowns."
The Bafana Bafana international will come up against old team-mates on Saturday when Chiefs and Downs lock horns at Loftus Versfeld on the opening day of the new league season.
