PSL announce Absa Premiership handover plans

Cape Town - The Premier Soccer League together with league sponsors, Absa, have announced that the Absa Premiership Trophy will be handed to the champions on the last weekend of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season.

The last block of fixtures will be played on Saturday afternoon, 21 May 2016.

All fixtures will kick-off at 15:00. Simultaneous kick-off will apply in the last two block fixtures (Wednesday, May 11 at 19:30 and May 21 at 15:00).

The PSL together with Absa have prepared for all scenarios for the last weekend of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership should the championship race go to the last fixture of the Absa Premiership.

"As we are left with less than three weeks of Absa Premiership football, it is important for us to communicate this information so that supporters can make the necessary preparations to travel to where their club will be playing on the last day of the championship race," PSL Acting Chief Executive Mato Madlala said.

"We also want to afford our partners, Absa with an opportunity to plan all the logistics involved in the Absa Premiership trophy handover.

"We look forward to the exciting last few days in the Absa Premiership championship race and the relegation battle. We wish all our clubs the best of luck,” said the PSL acting CEO.

For the past three seasons, the PSL has handed the trophy on the last day of the Absa Premiership season.
