Preview: SuperSport v Wits

Cape Town - SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits will renew their rivalry in the Absa Premiership when they meet at Mbombela Stadium.

SuperSport extended their unbeaten run in the league to nine matches when they held Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 away on November 23.

The Tshwane side has claimed eight points from four home matches this season.

Matsatsantsa are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 17 points from 10 matches.

Wits remain unbeaten in the league this season after they drew 2-2 at home to Highlands Park on November 23.

The Johannesburg side has claimed 13 points from five away matches this season.

The Clever Boys are placed first on the Absa Premiership log with 20 points from eight matches.

In head-to-head stats, Wits and SuperSport have met in 48 league matches since 1990.

The Clever Boys have claimed 16 wins compared to 14 for Matsatsantsa, while 18 matches have been drawn.

SuperSport have won eight of their 24 home league matches against Wits, suffering eight defeats in the process.

Last season the Clever Boys completed a league ‘double’ over Matsatsantsa, winning 1-0 in Johannesburg and 2-0 in Tshwane.

Wits have won their last four successive league matches against United and racked up five successive clean sheets against the Tshwane side.
