Preview: Orlando Pirates v Bloem Celtic

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will look to return to winning form in the Absa Premiership when they host Bloemfontein Celtic at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates have gone three league matches without a win after losing 2-1 away to Maritzburg United on December 13.

The Soweto giants have claimed 10 points from six home matches this season.

The Buccaneers are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 18 points from 12 matches.

Celtic saw their winless run in the league extended to four matches after they were beaten 3-0 at home by Ajax cape Town on December 17.

The Bloemfontein side has claimed seven points from six away matches this season.

Phunya Sele Sele are placed 13th on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from 13 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and Pirates have met in 56 league matches since 1985.

The Buccaneers have 29 wins compared to 13 for Phunya Sele Sele, while 14 matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won 19 of their 28 home matches against Celtic, suffering three defeats in the process.

Last season Phunya Sele Sele won 1-0 in Bloemfontein, while the Buccaneers did the same in Soweto.

In four of the last five league meetings between these teams, the hosts have emerged winners by a one-goal margin.

Kick off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, December 20.
