Pitso: We are true champions

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admits his side's performance in their 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits on Wednesday was not their best, but is happy with three points.

Khama Billiat scored the only goal of the game from 30 yards out as the newly-crowned Premiership champions beat second-placed Bidvest Wits to take their tally to 68 points, breaking the club's previous record of 65.

"We are true champions. We came here and won the game," Mosimane said after the match.

"Ok, it was not a very good game for us to play, but we have to play this way.

"We came up against a very good team in Wits. You could see they're a very, very good team. They had their chances. They missed their chances. But Leo (Castro) could also have scored, and Zwane as well.

"I know I didn't give people more of the good football that they want, but we came here and won and broke our record. That's what we wanted.

"We score one goal and keep the shape and organisation. We didn't look like we knew what we were doing, but we just dragged the game and it's finished. That's it."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
