Pitso to rest key-players for Enyimba tie

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that he will rest some his key-players in the CAF Champions League fixture against Enyimba tonight.

The Chloorkop-based outfit face the Nigerian giants having already quailified for the semi-final stage after picking up three wins from as many games in Group B.

"Our preparations for the Enyimba game have not been based on whether we have made it to the Champions League semi-final or not," he told SuperSport.

"We are starting a new season in South Africa, so every match we play is geared towards preparing the team for the new season. If it is possible we will like to win all the games in the group because it is good for our confidence and for our next opponents to show us some respect."

Mosimane cited his side's crucial MTN8 tie against arch-rivals SuperSport United on Sunday.

"The challenge for us is that we have got an important game back home on Sunday. We're in the quarter final of the MTN8 Cup. It's a local derby and a big game for us. Therefore we need to strike a balance in terms of the players we would use in the both matches," he explained.

"No disrespect to Enyimba, but we will rest some important players against them. We also want to give the fringe players the opportunity to play. It would not be fair not to give them a run now that we have already qualified. It's a big chance for them to prove themselves.

"We'll put out a team strong enough to compete. That is why we are here. The players are fighting for their positions and they know the match will be watched by the fans and family back home. So, they have to perform," he said.

Kick-off is at 17:30 (SA time).
