Pitso tips Chippa as surprise package

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes Chippa United will be the surprise package in the Premiership challenge in the upcoming season.

Chippa coach Dan Malesela replaced Roger Sikhakhane in December and went on to guide the team to a top-eight finish.

Under Malesela, the Chilli-boys play an ultra-attacking style which has won them many admirers.

Mosimane expressed equal admiration for Malesela but also warned that squad depth is a major factor in the Premiership race.

"I think Chippa will surprise‚ they will be a very big surprise this year‚" Mosimane told the Sowetan Live.

"They have kept the coach‚ they have kept the players. They had a lot of wins last season.

"There is a lot of calmness about them in terms of the coach and the (team's) management‚ I see them doing very well in my opinion. (Coach) Dan (Malesela) believes in total football‚ pure football.

"The only challenge is I don't know if he does have the personnel. You can have a philosophy but do you have the personnel?"

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
