Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has slammed the quality of refereeing not only in the Absa Premiership, but also in continental competitions.
Recently, the Brazilians have been on the end of some seemingly dubious decisions which have resulted in the club losing to AmaZulu domestically, and they also bowed out of the CAF Champions League at the hands of Wydad Casablanca in controversial circumstances as well.
Against Usuthu, Siyabonga Nomvethe scored one of the goals in his side's 2-1 victory despite appearing to be well offside. Meanwhile, in the defeat to Wydad, Mosimane takes the view that forward Percy Tau was wrongly blown up for offside in some dangerous positions.
"The continent is in trouble. You should (have seen it) when we played Wydad (Casablanca). The referee gave Percy (Tau) three offsides, one-on-one, we are out of the Champions League," the irate 53-year-old told reporters,
"Forget it. (In the game for) Zesco and SuperSport United. Unbelievable refereeing. Uganda, Ghana, I will go on, unbelievable refereeing. Nomvethe scores and then you have him (in the) media the whole time. ‘The old Nomvethe is back.’
"He’s offside guys, I mean he’s offside. You know, and you celebrated the whole week. It’s offside."
