Pitso optimistic Billiat won't go for free

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes there is a good chance that Zimbabwe international winger Khama Billiat could leave in January.

It was thought that the 2015/16 PSL Player of the Season and CAF Champions League-winner could depart 'Downs in the recently-closed transfer window.

But a move failed to materialise for the former Chicken Inn and Ajax Cape Town forward, who could now potentially hold out until his contract with Sundowns expires in June next year before joining the club of his choice as a free agent.

But Mosimane has challenged Billiat to up his game in order to earn a move earlier, while also warning potential suitors they could risk losing the Zimbabwean star if they wait until the middle of 2018.

"The right time is now (for Billiat to go overseas). Let the business happen. I speak to Khama and told him 'if you can bring the performance you brought when you had all the balls (trophies) at the (PSL) awards', then that release clause will be triggered," Mosimane told KickOff website.

"So I say 'come back and play at that level. You are worth that money (in the release clause)'.

"Do you want to wait six months to get him? Somebody is going to buy him in that six months. Trust me I have been there. Wait for six months and someone will buy him and you will be like 'I thought I would get him for free'."
