Pitso looks to international break positives

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane says the international break has its advantages as his side looks to rebuild squad morale within the camp.

The Brazilians have endured a gruelling schedule over the past two seasons with the Premiership, CAF Competitions and Club World Cup not allowing most of his squad to enjoy a pre-season break.

And following their dramatic penalty shoot-out exit in the semi-final of the Champions League last month, Masandawana have noticeably suffered from fatigue and an increasing injury-list of players.

Despite beating Platinum Stars 1-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium over the weekend, the former Bafana Bafana boss conceded his side aren't at their fluent attacking best.

"You could see that we are coming from a shock. We aren't really confident," he told reporters. "We tried to keep the result more than to go forward. We were in control of the game.

"For us, it was about the three points. We wish we could play again quickly because we had just won. But there is a FIFA break that we have to respect.

"It will give us time to get Khama, Soumahoro Bangaly, Anthony Laffor, Leonardo Castro and Yanick Zakri fit and give Anele Ngcongca and Asavela Mbekile a chance to be match fit."
