Pitso invites 'Bra' Shakes to Egypt

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane has invited Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba to accompany his side to Egypt to face Zamalek in the CAF Champions League second leg this weekend.

The Brazilians currently enjoy a 3-0 first-leg advantage and are strong favourites to win Africa's most prestigious club competition for the first time.

It was thought that Mosimane and Mashaba did not enjoy an amicable relationship due to issues surrounding national team selection of Sundowns players.

Previously, the Brazilians coach had called for certain players to be rested due to the club's hectic schedule, but Mashaba has seemingly not always been obliging.

Nonetheless, it seems the pair have buried the hatchet after Mosimane invited Bafana's coach to go to Egypt for the second leg.

He told reporters, "Bra Shakes, I brought him to the dressing room (after the 3-0 victory). He got a chance to speak to the boys. He congratulated us. We invited him to come with us to Alexandria, it's important."

Sunday's match kicks off at 20:30 (SA time).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
