Pitso backs Billiat for top accolades

Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes that attacking midfielder, Khama Billiat, deserves to sweep all top individual honours, especially the 2015/16 PSL Footballer of the Year award.

The Zimbabwean international heroics played an instrumental role in guiding the Brazilians to their record 7th Absa Premiership title along with winning the Telkom KnockOut respectively.

Billiat, 25, managed to score 10 league goals this season (two games remain of the season) and Mosimane says it will be difficult for the panel of judges to find a player who was more consistent this season in all 16 teams than him.

“This year I think it will be very difficult to get somebody who was consistent as him,” insisted Mosimane.

“He (Billiat) was scoring a lot of goals, he got double figures now and he could have scored more.

“But he was also assisting his teammates’ throughout the season which shows that he is a team player.

“He is the most fouled and kicked player in the PSL this season and if we can show you all the fouls committed against him you would see that he is unbelievable.

“He also helps in defence in defence and he was stealing a lot of balls from the defenders and he was supplying free kicks and defence splitting passes not forgetting doing all the running in the field in every game he played.

“And you must remember that we played too many games this season, in the league, Telkom KnockOut and the CAF Champions League and he was part of those too.

“He has done everything and so well for the team and I honestly believe that he deserves to win the footballer of the year accolade.”
