Pitso applauds hard-earned three points

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane applauded the hard-fought 2-1 victory over cross-town rivals University of Pretoria on Saturday.

Sundowns dominated the ball possession but could not bury their tenacious neighbours at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro grabbed the goals from Sundowns while Thabo Mnyamane pulled one back for AmaTuks.

"Hard-earned three points, we were sweating. Unbelievable Tuks, they fight! It's a local derby but they don't give up, they don't die, I thought when we got to two-zero we'd kill it but they still came back," KickOff reports Mosimane to have said.

"I don't know, Tuks, if they play like this they can't lose hey. I don't know whether they raised the levels because it's a local derby or what but they are strong, they don't let you score, for us it wasn't easy to score.

"Okay to be honest, they played five at the back, but I understand, they don't want to lose. Every game we play we forget about ten games unbeaten.

"We forgot about who you are playing, you fight for the points, you try to get the points and go home."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
