Pirates set to feature in Maize Cup

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have been invited to the four-team tournament known as a 2016 Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup next weekend at the Moruleng Stadium.

Following a disappointing 2-0 loss against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the 2016 Carling Black Label Cup, the Mayfair based outfit will look to get back to winning ways when they face fellow Premiership side Platinum Stars, who are also the reigning champions of the pre-season tournament.

The two other teams competing in the one-day tournament will be local sides Tigers and African Stars.

"Through this Maize Cup, the provincial government seeks to provide an opportunity to all soccer loving citizens from the province and beyond, to enjoy a thrilling day of entertaining soccer and that contributes to efforts to rebrand, reposition and renew the province," said the spokesperson of the North West provincial government, Brian Setswambung.
