Orlando Pirates issue injury update

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have issued an injury update ahead of their Premiership encounter against Cape Town City on Tuesday night at the Orlando Stadium.

The Buccaneers are looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign, but could be without the services of Justice Chabalala - who picked up the man-of-the-match award in the Soweto giants' 2-1 victory against Ajax Cape Town.

Pirates released a statement on their official website, revealing the status of injuries to Chabalala, Donald Mokondelela, Gladwin Shitolo and Nkosinathi Mthiyane respectively.

Chabalala made his debut in Pirates' victory against Ajax at the Cape Town Stadium, but the former Free State Stars man faces a late fitness test - having sustained a knock against the Urban Warriors.

"He will undergo a late fitness test today to determine whether he will be included in the 18-man squad," the club's website revealed.

"Meanwhile, midfielders Donald Mokondelela and Gladwin Shitolo continue to receive treatment for their respective injuries.

"Both players are definitely out of contention for the match on Tuesday according to the report and will continue undergoing rehabilitation.

"Left-back Nkosinathi Mthiyane, has suffered a calf strain and is also currently receiving treatment with the medical team expecting back to full training this week," the statement concluded.
