Pirate ready to break winless PSL streak

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will look to break their long winless run in the Absa Premiership when they host Maritzburg United at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates saw their winless streak stretched to 12 league games when they were beaten 3-2 at Free State Stars on April 1.

The Soweto side has claimed 12 points from 10 home matches this season.

The Buccaneers are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 21 matches.

Maritzburg ended a losing streak in the league with a 2-1 home win over Ajax Cape Town on April 1.

The KwaZulu-Natal side has claimed 12 points from 11 away matches this season.

The Team of Choice is placed eighth on the Absa Premiership log with 26 points from 22 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and Pirates have met in 21 league matches since 2005/06.

The Buccaneers have 10 wins compared to six for the Team of Choice, while five matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won five of their 10 home league matches against Maritzburg, suffering two defeats in the process.

When the club met earlier this season, the Team of Choice claimed a 2-1 home win in Pietermaritzburg.

Maritzburg are unbeaten in their last five league matches against Pirates.

Kick off at 19:30.
