Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse is looking forward to re-uniting with coach Stuart Baxter at SuperSport United, which he feels will help him in his long-term goal of playing for Bafana Bafana.
"I am really excited to work with coach Stuart again," Pieterse told Vodacom Soccer.
"He is a phenomenon coach who is a great tactician and I am certain that he will help me raise my game. I am really excited to have re-united with him but I will take things one step at a time."
Pieterse is taking it one game at a time because he could make his Bafana Bafana debut on Saturday in the Cosafa Cup where coach Owen da Gama is taking the Olympics bound national Under-23 team.
Pieterse's participation in the Cosafa Cup will be two-fold, it will be an audition for him to be one of the three over-age players to travel to Brazil to play in the Olympics as well as test the waters of what it's like being the nation's number one when he represents his country for the first time.
"I would like to use this tournament as a stepping stone to playing for Bafana Bafana in the future," he added.
"It would take a lot of hard work though because South Africa has a lot of great goalkeepers. It's not going to be easy. For me it's about working hard and doing the best that I can."
