Pieterse backing Khune for goalkeeper award

Cape Town - SuperSport goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse is backing Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune to walk away with the Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award.

Pieterse worked with Khune during his time with Amakhosi and expects his former team-mate to clinch the goalkeeper award after keeping the most clean sheets during the 2017/18 season.

Khune has been named alongside Dennis Onyango of Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United Richard Ofori as the nominees for the Goalkeeper of the Season award.

The Premiership end of the season awards will be held on Tuesday.

“I do expect him to win the award and not surprised he is among the nominees,” Pieterse told Vodacom Soccer

“He is a world class goalkeeper and his experience always helps him.

“His work ethic is also always at the top and really learnt a lot while I was working for him. It was unbelievable.”
